Sahaba Encyclopedia

Harf Information Technology undertook the responsibility of presenting a comprehensive encyclopedia of the companions of the Messenger (peace be upon him). The companions were the pioneers in propagating the Message of Islam and protecting it till it reached the next generations.

The following are the main sections of the program:

• A comprehensive Lexicon including about 12,000 companions arranged alphabetically.

• A section for the classes of the companions arranged according to time and place, in addition to female companions' classes.

• Different indices: indices of the ten companions given the glad tidings of entering Paradise, indices of the forerunners to Islam, the first companions of the Messenger (peace be upon him), the leaders and rulers from the companions, the companions who used to give Fatwas, the companions who narrated many Hadiths of the Messenger (peace be upon him), companions from among the Jinn and those companions regarding whom there was a difference whether they were regarded as companions or not.

• A section about the companions: definitions of the companions and their virtues, background about the companions and their number.

• A section classifying the companions in the light on the following references:

  1. The Holy Qur'an: this reference displays the companions regarding whose situations Qur'anic verses were revealed. This sub-section presents the text of the verses along with the following interpretations: Al-Jalalain, Ibn Kathir, Al-Qurtubi or At-Tabari, in addition to linking every companion to the Qur'anic verses concerned based on the book "Rijal Wa Nisa' Nazala Fihim Qur'an" (Men and women regarding whose case Qur'anic verses were revealed).

  2. Hadith: this reference presents companions who narrated Hadiths from the Messenger (peace be upon him), along with the display of their narrations in the nine books of Hadith and other books.

  3. Jurisprudence: this reference presents the companions who had special juristic opinions along with the display of these juristic opinions through more than a hundred juristic references from Islamic heritage.

  4. Sirah: this reference displays the places in which the companions were mentioned in the books of Sirah.

  5. History: this reference identifies the places in which the companions were mentioned in the books of history.

The encyclopedia depends on a written source: Al-Isabah fi Tamiyz As-Sahabah by Ibn Hajar Al-Asqalani and At-Tabaqat by Ibn Sa'd (Abridged), and links each of these two sources to the classifying tree in the program.

The program runs under Microsoft Windows 98, Me, 2000 and XP.

حرصت حرف على تقديم هذه الموسوعة المتكاملة عن الصحابة رضوان الله عليهم، فهم خير القرون، وهم الذين كان لهم الدور البارز في نشر الدعوة الإسلامية وحمايتها، وحفظ الشريعة لتصل إلى الأجيال المتعاقبة بعدهم. فكانت هذه الموسوعة المتكاملة عن الصحابة

وتحتوي الموسوعة على الخدمات التالية : ‎
معجم شامل يضم ما يقرب من 12.000 صحابي مرتبين حسب الترتيب الألفبائي .
مدخل لطبقات الصحابة مرتب ترتيبا زمانيا وترتيبا مكانيا بالإضافة إلى طبقات النساء .
فهارس متعددة تشمل: فهارس للعشرة المبشرين بالجنة، وفهارس للسابقين في الإسلام، والأوائل من الصحابة، والقادة من الصحابة، والولاة من الصحابة، والمكثرين من الفتيا، والمكثرين من الرواية، والصحابة من الجن، والصحابة المختلف في صحبتهم .

مدخل حول الصحابة ويشتمل على تعريفات عن: الصحابة وفضلهم، وبماذا يعرف الصحابي، وعدد الصحابة .
مدخل لتصنيف الصحابة حسب المصادر التالية:

• القرآن: ويعرض الصحابة الذين نزل فيهم قرآن، مع عرض الآية وتفسيرها من خلال تفاسير: الجلالين - ابن كثير- القرطبي - الطبري . مع ربط كل صحابي بما نزل فيه من آيات قرآنية اعتمادا على كتاب (رجال ونساء أنزل الله فيهم قرآنا).
• الحديث: ويعرض الصحابة رواة الأحاديث، مع عرض أحاديثهم في الكتب التسعة وغيرها .
• الفقه: ويعرض الصحابة الذين لهم آراء فقهية، مع عرض هذه الآراء من خلال أكثر من مائة مرجع فقهي من التراث .
• السيرة: ويعرض أماكن ذكر الصحابة في كتب السيرة .
• التاريخ: ويعرض أماكن ذكر الصحابة في كتب التاريخ .

تعتمد الموسوعة على منهج كتابي: (الإصابة في تمييز الصحابة) لابن حجر العسقلاني و(الطبقات) لابن سعد مختصراً مع ربط كل منهما بشجرة التبويب في البرنامج.
